Do you take insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider. I can provide a monthly superbill — a detailed receipt — that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, depending on your out-of-network benefits. I recommend calling your insurance before we start to understand what your plan covers.

How long are sessions?

Standard sessions are 50 minutes. Extended sessions (75–80 minutes) are available and sometimes useful for IFS work or when there's a lot to process. We can discuss what makes sense.

How often do we meet?

Most clients start with weekly sessions — this creates enough consistency to build momentum in the work. Depending on what we're working on and where things are, we may shift to every other week over time. Frequency is something we decide together based on what's actually serving the work.

What can I expect in the first session?

The first session is a chance for both of us to get a sense of whether we're a good fit. I'll ask about what's brought you in, some background about where you are in life, and what you're hoping for from this work. I'll also ask you to complete some validated assessment tools before we begin — these help me understand where you are at baseline and track changes over time. You don't have to have it all figured out to start.

How is telehealth different from in-person?

In most ways, it isn't. The therapeutic relationship — which is the most important variable in outcomes — is as present over video as it is in a room. You'll need a private, quiet space and a reliable internet connection. Most clients adapt quickly and find telehealth convenient without losing the depth of the work.

How do validated assessments work?

Before we begin, I'll send you a set of standardized questionnaires through NovoPsych — a secure, HIPAA-compliant assessment platform. These include measures for anxiety, depression, and other relevant areas based on what you're presenting with. We review the results together, and I repeat them periodically to track how things are shifting. This isn't about labeling you — it's about having a clear, shared picture of where you are and where you're going.

What if I'm not sure therapy will help?

That uncertainty is normal, and it's a fine place to start. Most people who are skeptical about therapy have tried it before and found it not quite right — the wrong fit, the wrong approach, or a model that didn't match what they actually needed. I can't promise it will help before we start, but I can promise to be honest with you about whether what we're doing is moving things.
